Air India Crash Probe: Black Box Analysis Location Pending
After the Air India plane crashed, officials are figuring out how to analyze the black boxes, which record important flight information.
Some reports said they would be sent abroad, but the government has denied this.
The AAIB, which is in charge of the investigation, will decide where to analyze the boxes.
They have a special lab in Delhi, but if the boxes are badly damaged, they might need to send them to a place with more advanced technology, like the United States, since the plane was made by Boeing.
The black boxes are vital for understanding why the plane crashed.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation refuted reports about sending the black boxes abroad for analysis.
The AAIB will decide on the location for decoding the flight recorders after assessment.
The investigation into the Air India Flight AI171 crash near Ahmedabad is underway.
Two sets of black boxes, DFDR and CVR, have been recovered from the crash site.
The AAIB's Delhi lab, opened in April 2025, was designed to handle such investigations domestically.
