Malaprabha Reservoir to Release Water for Irrigation
The government is letting water out of a big water storage called Malaprabha reservoir to help farmers grow their crops.
They're releasing a set amount of water over 17 days starting July 18th.
This decision came after farmers and leaders asked for it.
The goal is to help the farmers while also making sure there's enough water for people and animals to drink.
They are hoping for more rain to come, but in case it doesn't, the government will continue the water flow to the tail-end of the irrigation canal.
They are asking farmers to use the water carefully.
Malaprabha Irrigation Advisory Committee will release 4.5 TMC of water.
Water will be released into the canal network starting July 18th.
The release is intended to aid farmers during the agricultural season.
20 TMC of water will be reserved for drinking water needs.
Decision made in response to requests from legislators and farmers.
