Neeraj Chopra Qualifies for CWG 2026 Javelin Final Amid Wind
Neeraj Chopra, a famous Indian javelin thrower, did a good job in the first round of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
He threw about 79.6 metres, which was enough to get him into the final round.
Three Indian athletes made it to the final, which is great for India.
The weather was very cold and windy, making it hard for everyone to throw well.
Neeraj said he was happy to be in the final and that he wants to do his best in the next round.
He also praised a young Sri Lankan thrower named Rumesh Pathirage, saying he is a good friend and a rising star.
Neeraj Chopra qualified for the men's javelin final with a 79.61m throw, finishing fifth in qualification.
Three Indian athletes (Chopra, Rohit Yadav, Yash Vir Singh) made the final, giving India a strong medal chance.
Cold, swirling crosswinds prevented any athlete from reaching the automatic 84m qualification mark.
Chopra praised Sri Lankan thrower Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, calling him a friend and rising star.
Chopra said the conditions were not ideal, but he was satisfied with his performance and looks forward to a high‑quality final.
