Former Austrian Chancellor Kurz Appeals False Testimony Conviction
Sebastian Kurz, who used to be Austria's leader, is trying to get his conviction overturned.
Last year, a court said he lied during a meeting and gave him a punishment he didn't have to serve.
Kurz says he didn't lie and that the judge wasn't fair.
He's accused of not telling the truth about some investigations into corruption, which made his government fall apart.
There are also accusations that he used money to make himself look good in polls and get positive news coverage.
After he left politics, Kurz started a cybersecurity company.
Former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz appealed his conviction for false testimony.
Kurz was found guilty of misleading a parliamentary inquiry in 2023 and received a suspended jail sentence.
The appeal argues the court inadequately considered key evidence and that the judge was biased.
The parliamentary inquiry investigated corruption scandals that led to the collapse of Kurz's coalition.
Kurz is also under investigation for corruption related to allegedly funding polls and favorable media coverage.
