IndiGo Crisis: Air India Caps Fares, Offers Refunds
A member of parliament named Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy is upset because many people are having a hard time with flights in India.
He says IndiGo Airlines, which has a big share of the market, is not following rules meant to keep passengers safe.
The government had to step in and tell airlines to lower their prices because some tickets became very expensive.
Air India is now following these new rules and giving refunds to people who paid too much.
The MP wants the government to do more to make sure airlines follow the rules and take care of passengers.
Air India and Air India Express have also introduced special waivers for change or cancellation fees on eligible domestic bookings to help stranded passengers.
MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy blames IndiGo Airlines and the Aviation Ministry for passenger hardships due to flight disruptions and high fares.
IndiGo resisted new DGCA regulations that would require hiring more pilots and staff, delaying their implementation until February 2026.
Air India Group has started implementing Economy Class fare caps as directed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Passengers who booked tickets at higher fares during the transition period will receive refunds for the difference.
