SBI Plans 12,000 Hires, Branch Expansion, NSE Stake Sale
State Bank of India, or SBI, is planning to hire many people in the current financial year.
It expects to appoint about 11,000 to 12,000 workers in clerical and officer jobs.
The final number could change if many employees retire or the bank’s needs change.
SBI also wants its branch network to grow by about 200 to 250 branches each year.
It may reorganise some branches while opening others in new neighbourhoods and busy business areas.
Last year, SBI hired 25,633 people, including many technology specialists.
This year, it expects to hire fewer technology workers.
SBI and its subsidiary plan to sell up to 1% of their combined stake in the National Stock Exchange through its proposed IPO.
State Bank of India expects to recruit around 11,000–12,000 clerical and officer-level employees in FY27.
The final hiring figure may change based on retirements and emerging staffing requirements.
SBI expects its branch network to grow by about 200–250 locations annually on a net basis.
The bank hired 25,633 people in FY26, including 1,500 specialist IT officers, but expects fewer technology hires in FY27.
SBI and SBI Capital Markets plan to dilute up to 1% of their combined National Stock Exchange stake through its proposed ₹30,000-crore IPO.
