Karnataka High Court Orders Rs 2.77 Crore Tree-Fall Compensation

Chandan G was riding his motorcycle in Bengaluru when a large tree branch fell on him.

This happened on March 7, 2024.

He badly injured his neck and spine and became 85% disabled.

Because he cannot work, he needs help paying for medical care and supporting his family.

The Karnataka High Court ordered the Greater Bengaluru Authority to pay him about Rs 2.77 crore.

The authority must also add 6% interest from the day of the accident until payment.

The school where the tree stood had earlier asked the civic body to cut the branches.

The school also agreed to educate Chandan’s daughter for free until she finishes Class 12.
