Three Senior Maoist Commanders Surrender With Weapons in Bengal

Three senior Maoist members surrendered to the police in Bankura, Bengal.

Two of the three commanders were women.

They had allegedly worked underground for almost 20 years.

Police said they were linked to more than 75 criminal cases.

These cases included murder and weapons-related offences.

The group handed over rifles, ammunition and magazines.

The weapons were reportedly taken from security personnel earlier.

The surrender happened under Bengal’s rehabilitation policy.

Police said the event shows that the armed Maoist network in the region is becoming smaller.
