Farooq Abdullah Links Terror Attacks to J&K Statehood Demand
Farooq Abdullah, a leader in Jammu and Kashmir, said that the recent attacks in the region show that terrorism is still a problem.
He also said the state should be given back its special status.
Some other parties said he was using the attacks for politics.
A woman named Iltija Mufti said that people should not use the attacks to push for statehood.
Abdullah also talked about people in a part of Kashmir that is controlled by Pakistan and asked the United Nations to help them.
The attacks caused many people to be arrested and the police to be very active in the area.
Farooq Abdullah linked recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir to the demand for restoration of statehood, questioning the claim that terrorism ended after Article 370 abrogation.
The Peoples Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party criticized Abdullah, calling his remarks "illogical conspiracy theories" and accusing him of politicizing the attacks.
Iltija Mufti, daughter of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, condemned the use of the attacks for political mileage and urged that grief should not be politicized.
Abdullah also raised concerns about human rights in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and called for a UN human rights mission.
The incidents followed two terror attacks in south Kashmir that triggered a security crackdown and hundreds of detentions over the past ten days.
