JNUSU Slams Umar Khalid Book Event Cancellation, Vows to Proceed

JNUSU Slams Umar Khalid Book Event Cancellation, Vows to Proceed

At a big university called Jawaharlal Nehru University, the students wanted to hold a book discussion about a man named Umar Khalid.

A book discussion is when people meet to talk about a book and the ideas in it.

The university did not let them use space for this event, which means the event was cancelled.

The students' group, called JNUSU, was not happy about that.

They said the school was being unfair.

They pointed out that the school allowed another group, called ISKCON, to hold events on campus.

The students think it is not fair to let one group have events but refuse another group.

They said the school should support learning and talking about ideas, which is called academic freedom.

JNUSU said the event will still happen anyway.

So even though the school said no, the students plan to go ahead with their book discussion.
