Scammers Used Jet Airways Case to Digitally Arrest Elderly Couple

A couple in Delhi received a fake call saying their electricity bill was unpaid.

The callers then falsely accused the husband of helping Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal move illegal money.

They pretended to be CBI officers and showed a fake office during video calls.

They also sent a fake Enforcement Directorate notice and claimed the couple would be arrested.

The scammers told the couple to transfer their savings so the money could be checked.

The couple sent Rs 15.5 lakh, but the money was never returned.

Police later traced the money through several bank-account intermediaries.

Investigators say the account may have been part of a larger network connected to operators in Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates.

Police arrested several people allegedly involved in supplying accounts to the fraud network.
