Canara Bank Shares Fall Despite 21% Profit Surge
Imagine Canara Bank is like a successful store.
It made a lot more money (profit) this past quarter, about 21% more than last year!
They also have more money coming in from customers and fewer loans that aren't being paid back.
However, even though the store is doing well, the price of its shares went down a little.
This is because more people were selling their shares than buying them, which is a sign that people are feeling cautious about the future even though the bank's performance looks good.
Canara Bank's net profit surged 21.69% to ₹4,752 crore in Q1 2025.
Global business grew 10.98% to ₹25,63,984 crore, with deposit and advance increases.
Gross non-performing assets ratio declined to 2.69%, net NPA ratio to 0.63%.
Retail lending portfolio expanded 33.92%, and fee-based income rose 16.39%.
Despite strong results, the stock price fell 2.31% due to heavy selling.
