JFK Airport Ground Stop After Frontier Flight Emergency Over Engine Issue
A Frontier Airlines plane flying to New York's JFK airport had a problem with its engine and told the people in charge of the airport it was an emergency.
Because of this, the airport stopped all planes from taking off or landing for a while.
This meant other planes already flying were delayed, and planes waiting to take off had to wait longer.
The airport also mentioned that bad weather and strong winds were making things worse.
Later, the airport started letting planes move again, but many flights were delayed.
Frontier Airlines Flight 3546 declared an aircraft emergency due to an engine issue over New York.
The flight landed safely at JFK Airport around 12:45 pm on Thursday, October 30.
A ground stop was implemented at JFK Airport following the emergency declaration.
The FAA cited severe weather and strong winds as reasons for a Traffic Management Program impacting incoming flights.
The ground stop remained in effect until 10:59 pm, with average delays of around 40 minutes for planes.
