Gujarat and Bengal Update Voter Lists
In Gujarat, India, the government is almost done checking a big list of voters who might be absent, have moved, or have passed away.
Out of 33 districts, 18 have no problems, and the rest have only 400 issues left to fix.
They finished checking all voters on December 11.
In West Bengal, the draft voter list will be published on December 16.
Over 30 lakh voters are in a special category because their names couldn't be linked to old lists.
Around 1.7 crore voters need more checks, and 58 lakh names might be removed.
The government is making sure the voter list is correct and includes everyone who should be on it.
They are also sharing the lists with political parties and their agents.
Everyone involved is happy with how things are going.
Verification of 10.69 lakh discrepancies in the ASD list is nearing completion in Gujarat.
Out of 33 districts in Gujarat, 18 have no discrepancies, while 400 discrepancies are being verified in the remaining 15 districts.
The draft electoral rolls for West Bengal will be published on December 16, following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Over 30 lakh voters in West Bengal have been placed in a 'no-mapping' category, and 1.7 crore voters are under scrutiny.
Around 58 lakh names have been marked for deletion in West Bengal's draft rolls, primarily under categories like deceased, shifted, untraceable, and duplicate voters.
