Pentagon Sets Fitness and Grooming Rules for Hegseth Address

The Pentagon is choosing servicemembers to attend a speech by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The speech is called the State of the Force address and is scheduled for September 30.

People who attend must meet waist-to-height rules and pass fitness tests.

They must also have very neat uniforms and grooming.

Commanders will look at leadership, honesty, discipline and communication skills.

Selected servicemembers may also work out with Hegseth.

The audience will include many junior officers and enlisted troops, not only senior leaders.

Supporters say the rules help maintain military readiness, while critics say they may focus too much on appearance.
