Cargo Operators Prepare to Shift From Mumbai to Navi Mumbai

Cargo Operators Prepare to Shift From Mumbai to Navi Mumbai

Mumbai has two airports, and more cargo airlines may start using the newer Navi Mumbai airport.

The older Mumbai airport is running short of some extra flight slots.

Its operator has reportedly denied slots to some cargo airlines for flights planned from late August.

The airport operator wants dedicated cargo flights to move to Navi Mumbai by August 26.

However, some industry sources think that deadline may be too soon.

Several flexible cargo airlines may move first.

Airlines that carry freight inside passenger planes are more hesitant because their passenger flights still use the Mumbai airport.

Construction-related changes to parking areas and taxiways at the Mumbai airport may also temporarily affect cargo operations.
