Vedanta Shares Rise After NCLAT Grants Interim Stay on Demerger
Imagine a company called Vedanta that wants to split into five different parts, like cutting a cake.
A judge initially said no to this plan because a creditor had objections.
However, another judge stepped in and said that Vedanta can continue with its plan for now.
This is good news for Vedanta, and its shares went up a little bit.
The company still plans to split itself, but it has extended the deadline to finish the process.
Now, people who own shares of Vedanta will get shares in the new companies too.
Vedanta shares rose after NCLAT granted relief on a demerger scheme.
NCLAT granted an interim stay on the NCLT order dismissing the demerger.
The demerger scheme was related to Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd. (TSPL).
SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corporation, a creditor, had objected to the demerger.
Vedanta extended the demerger deadline to September 30, 2025.
