Maharashtra Administration Prepares Next Electoral Roll Revision Phase
Officials in Maharashtra have finished checking voters’ addresses across the Pune division.
They are now preparing a draft list of voters.
Some voters could not be matched with existing records and will need extra checking.
Officials may ask these voters for documents and other identification.
People will be able to file objections and attend hearings about the draft list.
Special attention will be given to records marked absent, shifted, dead or duplicate.
The administration will review the work every day and set targets for completing cases.
Officials also want to explain the process clearly so citizens are not confused.
The Pune division has completed its house-to-house electoral roll survey within the extended deadline.
Officials are preparing to publish the draft electoral roll and verify voters whose records remain unmapped.
The next phase will include objections, hearings and scrutiny of Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate entries.
Chief Electoral Officer S Chockalingam ordered daily SIR data reviews, fixed targets and completion of pending technical work.
Officials were directed to provide clear voter information while avoiding unnecessary pressure on field staff and Booth Level Officers.
