India to Unleash Superfast Wi-Fi 6 with 6GHz Band Delicensing
The Indian government is making Wi-Fi faster by opening a special frequency band (6 GHz).
This lets you use the latest Wi-Fi, called Wi-Fi 6, at home and work.
It's like getting a super-fast internet connection for streaming and gaming.
You won't need special permission to use it indoors, but not on cars, planes, or drones.
This decision will bring a major change to India's digital world, with tech companies expressing their approval.
The Indian government drafted regulations for the delicensing of the 6 GHz band.
This move will allow Wi-Fi 6 broadband to be used, improving connectivity.
The delicensing applies to the 5925 to 6425 MHz frequency range.
Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the draft by June 15.
Use of the 6GHz band is prohibited on vehicles, aircraft (except above 10,000 feet), and drones.
