Assam to Display 'Vrindavani Vastra' in 2027
Assam's government has made a special deal with the British Museum.
They will borrow a very old and beautiful silk cloth called the Vrindavani Vastra.
This cloth tells stories about Lord Krishna and was made a long time ago in Assam.
It was taken away over 100 years ago and kept in museums far away.
Now, a special part of it will be brought back to Assam for people to see in 2027.
A company is helping to arrange this and will also help build a new museum in Guwahati to show it off.
Assam government signed a loan agreement with the British Museum to display the 16th-century 'Vrindavani Vastra' in Assam in 2027.
The Vrindavani Vastra is a silk textile depicting the life of Lord Krishna, created under the guidance of Srimanta Sankardeva.
This is the first time a portion of the textile will be displayed in Assam in over a century since fragments were taken abroad.
The JSW group is facilitating this 'homecoming' and is responsible for building an international standard museum in Guwahati for its display.
The British Museum originally acquired the textile in 1904 from Tibet.
