Punjab Sees High Demand for Govt School Seats
In Punjab, India, more than 200,000 students have applied for just 20,000 seats in special government schools called Schools of Eminence and Residential Schools.
These schools are for very smart students and offer great education.
The government is happy because so many students want to go to these schools.
The schools have seats for students starting in 9th and 11th grades.
The students have to take a test to get in, and they need to finish their applications by January 25, 2026.
The test will be on March 1, 2026.

Schools of Eminence offer 4,248 seats for Class 9 and 11,187 for Class 11.
Residential Schools offer 50 seats for Class 9 and 4,600 for Class 11.
Application deadline is January 25, 2026, with the entrance exam on March 1, 2026.
