Western Railway Pilots Equipment-Friendly Jackets for Mumbai Ticket Checkers
Western Railway has given some ticket checkers in Mumbai special jackets to try.
The railway has provided 30 jackets in this pilot.
The jackets have pockets for the machines and devices staff use at work.
They also have a headset so staff can use equipment more easily.
This can help during busy checks and crowded travel times.
The jackets are meant to keep equipment secure and leave staff’s hands free.
The railway will see how the trial works before deciding whether to provide more jackets.
Western Railway’s Mumbai Division has procured and deployed 30 specially designed jackets for ticket checking staff as a pilot.
Dedicated pockets are provided for hand-held terminals, electronic fare machines and voice amplifiers.
A headset arrangement lets staff access and operate equipment without repeatedly holding or setting it aside.
Officials say the jackets are intended to help during intensive checks, campaigns and peak-hour duties while keeping staff’s hands free.
The railway may consider wider deployment in the Mumbai Division if the pilot proves useful.
