NCP Allies with Jamaat, Faces Internal Split
A student-led political party in Bangladesh called the National Citizen Party (NCP) has decided to work with another party called Jamaat-e-Islami for the upcoming elections.
This decision has caused a big argument inside the NCP.
Some important leaders, like a doctor named Tasnim Jara, have quit the party because they don't agree with working with Jamaat.
They say Jamaat did bad things during Bangladesh's independence war in 1971.
The NCP is trying to become a strong party, but this decision might hurt their chances in the long run.
Other parties, like the BNP, are also gaining support.
The elections will be held under a new leader, Muhammad Yunus, who is trying to bring stability to the country.
NCP has formed an electoral alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami ahead of the February 12 parliamentary elections.
The decision has caused internal rifts, with at least 30 founding members threatening to resign.
Critics argue the alliance undermines the NCP's founding ideals and centrist reformist image.
The NCP, born out of a protest movement, is struggling to translate street power into voter support.
The alliance comes amid broader political realignments, with the BNP regaining momentum.
