Karimnagar Rice Millers Seek Relief on Milling, CMR Issues
Rice millers in Karimnagar say they are having trouble turning paddy into rice and sending it to the government.
They say some Rabi paddy creates too much broken or damaged rice.
They also say there is not enough storage space and that finished rice is not being collected quickly.
The millers want rice targets to match how much rice they can actually produce.
They want officials to count losses caused by rain, moisture, natural damage, and processing.
They have asked for more time to finish milling and deliveries.
They also want faster payments and relief from penalties and interest.
The millers say they will continue helping with government procurement and rice supplies.
The Karimnagar District Rice Millers Welfare Association asked the District Collector to address milling and Custom Milled Rice delivery problems.
Millers cited poor Rabi paddy quality, high breakage and damage, paddy shortages, limited warehouse space, and delayed CMR lifting.
The association requested separate boiled rice targets, an Out-Turn Ratio based on actual recovery, and consideration of weather and processing losses.
About 2.5 lakh MT of Rabi paddy and 1 lakh MT of Kharif paddy were reportedly pending.
Millers sought deadline extensions, timely payments, penalty and interest waivers, and lower electricity charges for eligible mills.
