Fitch affirms India's BBB- rating on resilient economy, stable outlook

Fitch Ratings is a company that gives countries report-card-style grades for how safe they are to lend money to.

It just gave India a grade of BBB-, which is a good grade, though it's the lowest one a country can get.

Fitch said India's economy has been strong and tough, even when the world had problems.

India's economy is growing quickly, and Fitch thinks that growth will keep going.

There are worries about energy prices because of troubles in West Asia, but Fitch believes India will be okay.

India's government has borrowed a lot of money, and its debt is large compared to the size of its economy.

The government is making a plan to slowly reduce that debt, year by year.

It wants the debt to be much smaller by 2031.

With a strong economy and a plan to handle debt, Fitch says India's future looks bright.
