India Expands Digital Land Records to 19 States
India is making big changes to how people handle land and property.
Now, in 19 states, people can download important land papers from home, and these digital copies are just as good as the real ones.
Banks can also check if land is already used as collateral for loans online, which makes things faster.
Most villages in India now have their land records on computers, and there's even a special number for each piece of land to prevent fraud.
The government is also working on making property registration easier and has set aside money to make land deals more transparent and business-friendly.
Citizens in 19 states can now download legally valid digital land records from home.
Banks in 406 districts can verify mortgages online, speeding up loan approvals.
Land record digitisation is nearly complete in rural India, with 97.27% of villages having digitised RoR and 97.14% having digitised cadastral maps.
The NAKSHA scheme is conducting high-resolution aerial surveys in 157 cities, with 116 cities already completed.
The Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) has been assigned to over 36 crore land parcels, preventing fraud and ensuring record accuracy.
