Navi Mumbai Accountant Accused of ₹40.58 Lakh Vendor-Bill Fraud

Navi Mumbai Accountant Accused of ₹40.58 Lakh Vendor-Bill Fraud

Police say an accountant at a construction company may have taken money using fake bills.

The bills used the names of real vendors who had not done the work.

The accountant allegedly copied signatures and used false stamps.

He also allegedly changed the company’s digital accounting records to hide the payments.

Investigators say the money went to the bank accounts of four friends.

The suspected transactions totaled ₹40.58 lakh.

The issue was discovered when a vendor noticed tax had been recorded in his name for work he had not done.

Police are looking for all five accused, and an audit may show that more money was involved.
