World's Longest Expressway Tunnel Opens in China
China has opened the world's longest expressway tunnel, called the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel.
It is 22.13 kilometers long and goes through the Tianshan Mountains.
This tunnel makes it much easier and faster to travel between the north and south parts of Xinjiang.
Before, people had to take winding mountain roads that were often closed because of snow or landslides.
The tunnel has special features like good lighting, emergency exits, and safety equipment.
It also helps the environment by reducing the need for surface roads.
Now, trips that used to take 6-7 hours can be done in about 3 hours.
This is great for people, farmers, and businesses because it saves time and money.
China has opened the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, the world's longest expressway tunnel at 22.13 km.
The tunnel cuts through the Tianshan Mountains, connecting Urumqi in northern Xinjiang to southern regions like Korla and Yuli.
Construction took over five years and involved detailed geological studies and advanced engineering techniques.
The tunnel features two separate tubes, 11 vertical shafts, automatic lighting, and extensive safety measures.
Travel time across the mountains has been reduced from 6-7 hours to about 3 hours, benefiting commuters and freight operators.
