Govt's Campaign Returns Rs 2000 Crore Unclaimed Money
The Indian government started a campaign called 'Your Money, Your Right' to help people get back money that was left unclaimed in banks, insurance, mutual funds, and other places.
They have already returned Rs 2000 crore to people.
This money was stuck because people didn't claim it for a long time, maybe because they moved, changed their bank details, or didn't know about it.
The government is working with banks and other organizations to make it easy for people to find and get their money back.
There is still a lot of money left unclaimed, like Rs 78,000 crore in banks and Rs 14,000 crore in insurance.
Government's 'Your Money, Your Right' initiative returned Rs 2000 crore of unclaimed money to owners.
Unclaimed money includes bank deposits, insurance proceeds, mutual funds, dividends, and retirement benefits.
Estimated unclaimed amounts: Rs 78,000 crore in banks, Rs 14,000 crore in insurance, Rs 3,000 crore in mutual funds, and Rs 9,000 crore in dividends.
Money becomes unclaimed due to reasons like migration, changes in contact details, or lack of information among heirs.
Government is coordinating with RBI, IRDAI, SEBI, IEPFA, and PFRDA to help citizens reclaim their assets.
