PSBs Ready for Weekly Credit Data Reporting
Public sector banks in India are getting ready to start sending credit information to companies like CIBIL every week instead of every two weeks.
This change will happen on July 1, 2026.
Some big banks like the State Bank of India are already sending new loan information every day.
The banks have been working on this for a long time and think it will help them make better decisions when giving loans.
It will also help people who borrow money because any payments they make will be updated faster.
This means when they apply for another loan, the banks will have more up-to-date information about them.
Public sector banks (PSBs) are prepared to move to weekly reporting of credit data to CICs from July 1, 2026.
Some PSBs, like the State Bank of India, already report new loan data on a daily basis.
The RBI directed credit institutions to shift to weekly reporting in December 2025.
PSBs have a 56.2% market share in total advances of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs).
Weekly reporting is expected to improve data quality and freshness, benefiting both lenders and borrowers.
