AAP alleges Rs 500 crore loss in MCD toll tender
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi has accused the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) of losing Rs 500 crore by rejecting the highest bid of Rs 1,100 crore in a tender for toll tax and Environment Compensation Charge (ECC).
AAP claims that four of the seven bids, including the highest one, were deliberately rejected to favor certain companies.
They demand that the tender be cancelled and a fresh open bidding process be conducted.
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which runs the MCD, has dismissed AAP's claims as misleading and baseless.
BJP states that the tender process is transparent and aims to protect public and revenue interests.
The new tender process is currently underway, with the current agency given a temporary extension to ensure no disruption in toll collection.
