India-UK FTA to Boost Exports of Bengal Crafts and Goods
India and the UK have made a deal to trade more easily.
This means it's now cheaper and simpler for goods from West Bengal, a place in India, to be sold in the UK.
Some special items like beautiful silk saris (Baluchari saris), tasty tea (Darjeeling tea), colorful dolls (Natungram dolls), and handmade leather goods (Santiniketan leather goods) will now be easier to sell.
This helps the people who make these things, called artisans, by making their products known worldwide and hopefully increasing their income.
It also protects the special qualities of the items that have special tags.
India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is set to boost exports from West Bengal.
Baluchari saris, Darjeeling tea, Natungram dolls, and Santiniketan leather goods are expected to benefit.
Reduced tariffs and streamlined customs will ease access to UK markets for these goods.
GI-tagged products like Baluchari saris and Darjeeling tea will receive enhanced recognition.
The FTA aims to provide artisans with global exposure, fairer prices, and increased demand.
