AI to Revolutionize Power Distribution Systems
The Power Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, recently spoke at a big meeting about how computers can help make electricity better for people.
He said that smart computers can help electricity companies understand what people need and fix problems before they happen.
The meeting had lots of smart ideas from different companies.
Some winners were chosen for their great ideas, like using smart meters to save money and stop electricity theft.
The Minister also started a new program called STELLAR to help electricity companies plan better.
The goal is to make sure everyone has reliable and affordable electricity.
Some people think these new technologies are great, while others are worried about misinformation and consumer resistance.
Union Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar urged discoms to adopt AI/ML-based solutions for consumer-centric distribution systems.
A two-day national conference on AI/ML technologies in the power distribution sector was held in New Delhi.
51 solutions were shortlisted from 195 applications, with winners announced in various categories.
The Minister launched STELLAR, a program to help discoms carry out resource adequacy studies and prepare long-term plans.
The India Smart Grid Forum presented a handbook highlighting 174 use cases, including 45 from Indian utilities.
