Raghav Chadha Challenges ‘Shifted’ Marking in Punjab Draft Rolls
Raghav Chadha is a politician who used to belong to the Aam Aadmi Party and now belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
His name in Punjab’s temporary voter list was marked “shifted,” even though his voter registration is in Mohali.
“Shifted” means officials recorded that he may no longer live at that address.
Chadha says this was done on purpose to punish him for leaving the Aam Aadmi Party.
He says government officials were involved in marking and checking the entry.
The Aam Aadmi Party denies this and says the Election Commission runs the voter-list review.
The party says Chadha lives in Delhi and was responsible for keeping or moving his voter registration.
It also accused him of trying to register in Delhi through a backdated process.
The voter list is not final, and Chadha can challenge the classification during the claims and objections process.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha says Punjab’s draft electoral rolls classify his Mohali voter registration as “shifted.”
Chadha alleges the classification was deliberate political vendetta by the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab.
He questioned officials involved in marking, verifying and processing his classification during the Special Intensive Revision.
The AAP says the Election Commission conducts the revision and that the state government has no role in deciding which names are included or deleted.
The rolls are still provisional, with claims and objections ongoing and final rolls scheduled for publication in October 2026.
