Operation Shutterdown: 38 Accused Produced in Court for Welfare Fund Embezzlement
Imagine some people tried to steal money meant to help others through government programs like farming support and pensions.
They made fake accounts or used special online codes they weren't supposed to have to send the money to people who didn't qualify, or even to names that don't exist.
Police caught 38 of these people as part of a big operation called 'Shutterdown.'
A judge sent some of them to jail for a while and others to be questioned by the police to find out exactly how they did it.
Because so many people and accounts were involved across different states, the police might look into this even more.
38 members of an interstate criminal gang were produced in a Jhalawar court under Operation Shutterdown.
They are accused of embezzling government welfare funds from schemes like PM Kisan Samman Yojna and social security pensions.
The gang allegedly used unauthorized IDs or hacked official accounts to divert funds to fictitious or ineligible beneficiaries.
Authorities transferred benefits into approximately 3 to 4 lakh bank accounts.
Nine accused were remanded to police custody until November 3, 2025, while the other 29 were sent to judicial custody for 15 days.
