Nandyal Collector Urges Eco-Friendly Vinayaka Chavithi
The local government is asking people to celebrate Vinayaka Chavithi in a way that's good for the environment.
They want people to use clay Ganesha statues instead of ones made with chemicals, like Plaster of Paris, which can hurt the environment and people.
These chemicals don't dissolve well and can cause health problems.
The government is also giving away free clay idols to help people celebrate in a safer way.
Collector G Rajakumari urged public to celebrate Vinayaka Chavithi in an eco-friendly way.
The appeal was made to worship clay Ganesha idols instead of those made with harmful chemicals.
A poster promoting the slogan 'Worship Clay Ganesha, Protect the Environment' was unveiled.
The Collector warned against the use of Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols due to hazardous chemicals.
The Pollution Control Board will distribute 2,000 free clay Ganesha idols on August 25.
