FIIs Sell $23 Billion in Indian Equities, Experts Say No Panic
Foreign investors, called FIIs, have been selling stocks in India recently.
They sold about $23 billion worth between September 2024 and July 2025, causing the market to dip.
However, experts say this is not panic selling, but rather investors taking profits because the Indian market has been doing well.
FIIs still hold a lot of investments in India.
Also, local investors are playing a bigger role, putting more money into the stock market than foreign investors have recently.
The main reason is India's outperformance compared to other markets.
FIIs offloaded $23 billion of Indian equities between September 2024 and July 2025.
Indian equities fell 5% in rupee terms and 10% in dollar terms during the same period.
Experts attribute the selling to profit-booking due to India's outperformance.
FIIs still hold $820 billion in Indian equities with $600 billion in unrealized gains.
Domestic mutual funds invested significantly more than FPIs between 2014 and July 2025.
