Show-cause notices issued to 9 rice millers
The East Godavari district government in Andhra Pradesh sent official warnings to nine rice mills.
Farmers complained that these mills were taking extra money from them, which is not allowed by the government.
The mills have to explain why they did this within three days.
If they don't have a good reason, the government might stop giving them paddy to process or even ban them from working with the government.
Farmers are also being told to report any problems they face when selling their paddy.
East Godavari district administration issued show-cause notices to nine rice millers for unauthorized collections during paddy procurement.
Farmers reported deductions on each paddy bag, violating government guidelines and causing financial loss.
Notices were sent to mills in Anaparthi, Biccavolu, Chagallu, Kadiyam, and Korukonda mandals.
Joint Collector Megha Swaroop stated that strict action, including blacklisting, is under consideration.
Millers have three days to submit a written explanation, and farmers are urged to report any unauthorized collections.
