Mystery Lights Over Tehran Revive Iran’s Famous UFO Encounter
People in Tehran filmed strange-looking lights in the sky in September 2026.
The videos show colorful lights, but they do not reveal how far away or how large the object was.
No public radar or flight-tracking information confirms what it was.
Some people think it could have been drones, an aircraft, a kite or another illuminated object.
Others connect it to a famous 1976 sighting over Tehran.
In 1976, Iranian fighter jets investigated a bright object and reported unusual equipment problems.
A United States report recorded the event but did not determine what the object was.
The old sighting has never been proven to involve aliens.
The new videos have brought back the mystery, but they do not solve it.
Videos reportedly recorded on 20 September 2026 show colorful lights over Tehran, but their distance, altitude, speed and size cannot be independently determined.
The footage has revived memories of a 1976 incident involving Iranian F-4 Phantom fighter jets responding to reports of a bright object.
A declassified United States government report said the first fighter lost instruments and communications, while a second established radar contact with the object.
Possible conventional explanations include drones, reconnaissance aircraft, kites, illuminated objects, Jupiter, electrical problems and a meteor shower.
Iranian authorities have not publicly identified the latest object or indicated that it represents a security threat.
