Amaal Mallik reveals why Arijit Singh returned to playback singing
Arijit Singh is a very famous singer who sings songs for movies.
Earlier in 2026, he told everyone he would stop singing songs for new movies.
But he also said he would still make his own music.
Recently, he sang a song called 'Yeh Awarapan' for a movie called Awarapan 2.
Many people wondered why he changed his mind.
His friend and music maker, Amaal Mallik, explained what happened.
He said nobody forced Arijit to sing the song.
The song had been sung by Amaal himself for almost a year before Arijit heard it.
Arijit liked it but was shy to sing it because Amaal sang it so well.
In the end, he agreed, and the movie comes out on August 14.
Amaal Mallik said Arijit Singh's return to playback singing with 'Yeh Awarapan' from Awarapan 2 was not planned or prompted by pressure.
The song existed in Mallik's own voice for nearly a year before Arijit heard it, dispelling speculation it was an old recording held back.
Arijit was initially reluctant to record the track because he felt Mallik had already sung it well, but agreed a few months ago.
In January 2026, Arijit announced he would no longer take on new film assignments while continuing to make music.
Mallik said the return should not be seen as final, and Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, releases on August 14.
