Maharashtra to Introduce Mobile Processing Units for Farmers
Farmers sometimes have too much of a crop, which can make them lose money.
To help with this, the Maharashtra Agro Industries Development Corporation (MAIDC) is getting special machines.
These machines can go to the farms and turn the crops into other things, like tomato puree or dried onions.
This will make the crops last longer, about 12 to 18 months.
Farmers can then sell their products when they can get the best price.
The machines are made by a company from Rajasthan and cost about ₹1.5 crore each.
Maharashtra Agro Industries Development Corporation (MAIDC) plans to introduce mobile processing units.
The units will help farmers manage excess crop production and extend shelf life.
Two machines will be deployed in two districts on a pilot basis.
Processing includes washing, peeling, drying, chopping, slicing, and liquefaction.
Each unit can process 150-200 tonnes of produce per day.
