Nehru Children’s Museum Survives Shutdown Threat Amid Financial Struggles

The Nehru Children’s Museum is a place where children can see dolls, clay models and miniature scenes.

It opened in 1972 with models from the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Later, it added dolls from many countries around the world.

The museum also has special Japanese dolls and a Moomin family from Finland.

Many schools take children there during Children’s Day and winter.

The museum almost faced closure because it has financial and safety problems.

The Bengal government cancelled the shutdown order and promised help with fire-safety improvements.

Families and former visitors were happy because the museum holds important childhood memories.

However, it still needs enough money to pay for its continuing expenses.
