Indian Cleric Issues Fatwa Against New Year Celebrations

He says that singing, dancing, and other fun activities related to New Year are not allowed in Islam.
He believes that New Year is a Christian festival and Muslims should not celebrate it.
Instead, he says Muslims should celebrate their own New Year, which is called Muharram.
This is not the first time he has said this.

Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi issued a fatwa urging Muslims in India not to celebrate New Year.
He stated that New Year celebrations involve activities like singing, dancing, and alcohol consumption, which are considered haram in Islam.
The fatwa advises Muslim youth to stay away from New Year celebrations and not attend any such events.
Razvi mentioned that the New Year is a Christian festival and strictly prohibited for Muslims to celebrate.
He urged Muslims to celebrate their own New Year, Muharram, instead of adopting European traditions.
