Odisha Schools to Contact Absent Students' Families
Odisha schools have been told to reach out to families of students who have been absent for 7 days or more.
This decision comes after a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) showed that fewer students in Odisha are moving from secondary to higher secondary education compared to the rest of India.
The report, which was presented in the Odisha Assembly on December 9, 2025, also showed that the number of students making this transition has actually decreased since 2018-19.
The schools are now trying to find out why students are not attending and how they can help.
Odisha schools must contact families of students absent for 7 days or more.
The directive follows a CAG report tabled in the Odisha Assembly on December 9, 2025.
The report shows Odisha's transition rate from secondary to higher secondary education was lower than the national average in 2022-23.
The report also highlights a negative growth in transition rates compared to 2018-19.
The initiative aims to address the declining student transition rates and improve attendance.
