India Plans New Scheme to Boost Domestic Polysilicon Manufacturing

India Plans New Scheme to Boost Domestic Polysilicon Manufacturing

The Indian government wants more solar equipment to be made inside India.

One important material is polysilicon, which is used to make parts for solar panels.

Officials say India may need 30GW of polysilicon-making capacity by 2030.

Building this capacity could attract about ₹25,000 crore in investment.

An existing government incentive program mainly supports solar cells and modules.

The government is considering another program for wafers and ingots.

This plan is meant to reduce dependence on imports, especially from China.

India also expects to invest heavily in clean energy as it works toward its climate goals.
