Raksha Bandhan: Sisters Visit Inmate Brothers At Ashoknagar Jail

Raksha Bandhan is a festival when sisters tie special threads called rakhis on their brothers’ wrists.

At Ashoknagar jail, sisters were allowed to meet their brothers who are prisoners.

They put tilak on their brothers’ foreheads and shared sweets.

Many people became emotional during the meetings.

Each prisoner was given 10 minutes with visiting family members.

Some women were allowed to bring young children into the jail.

Jail staff checked visitors and their identity cards before allowing them inside.

In Sehore, people also tied rakhis to trees to show that nature should be protected.
