India Commissions First Indigenous Pollution Control Vessel
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently launched a new ship called ICGS Samudra Pratap in Goa.
This ship is special because it was designed and built in India and is the largest in the Indian Coast Guard's fleet.
It can help with pollution control, firefighting, and keeping our seas safe.
The ship can travel very fast and far, and it has special tools to detect pollution and fight fires.
It also has a place for helicopters, which makes it even more useful.
For the first time, women officers will be part of the crew on this ship.
The minister said the Coast Guard should be ready to act before problems happen and use more Indian-made parts in their ships.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commissioned ICGS Samudra Pratap, India's first indigenously designed pollution control vessel, in Goa.
The 114.5-meter vessel, built by Goa Shipyard Limited, is the largest in the Indian Coast Guard's fleet and has over 60% indigenous content.
The vessel is equipped with advanced pollution detection systems, firefighting capabilities, and aviation support facilities.
ICGS Samudra Pratap will enhance the Coast Guard's operational capability in pollution control, maritime safety, and environmental protection.
For the first time, the Indian Coast Guard's ship will have two women officers.
