Mira-Bhayandar Approves Restrictions on Goats, Qurbani and Meat Sales

The Mira-Bhayandar city council approved new rules about goats, meat shops and stray animals.

Goats for qurbani cannot be kept in homes, housing societies, shops, roads or other places without authorization.

Sacrifices and temporary Bakri Eid shelters must be at locations approved by the city.

Meat sellers will need a municipal permission certificate.

They also cannot display meat or animal parts where people outside can see them.

Meat sellers who break the rules may receive large fines or lose their licences.

Feeding stray animals in many public places will also be banned unless the city has approved the location.

The BJP supported the rules, while Congress wanted consenting housing societies to be exempt, but that proposal was rejected.
