India Supports Kenya’s Ebola Preparedness After Imported Case Confirmed

Kenya reported that a traveller from the Democratic Republic of the Congo had Ebola and died.

India said it would support Kenya’s efforts to respond.

India provided 6,000 protective kits for people working to manage the health emergency.

Kenya’s health ministry said one imported case does not mean Ebola is spreading widely in the country.

Kenya has trained thousands of health workers and strengthened monitoring in communities and health facilities.

Travellers are also being screened at 15 points where people enter the country.

The ministry said Kenya remains safe, open and watchful.

Other organizations and governments have also supported the response.
