Swiss woman builds school and empowers women on Sagar Island

A woman from Switzerland named Sandra Gojkovic moved to a small island in India called Sagar Island.

The island is very remote, so you can only reach it by boat, and it often gets hit by big storms called cyclones.

She saw that many children were not going to school, so she decided to build a school there.

At first, some parents did not want to send their children to school because they needed them to help in the fields.

Local teachers went from house to house to explain why education matters, and soon more children started coming.

Now children on the island do much better in their big exams.

She also started programs to protect women and children from harm like child marriage and violence.

Women learn skills like sewing so they can earn their own money.

A local team runs the projects because they know their community best.

She says India taught her patience and that real change takes time.
